James Gunn

James Gunn is a filmmaker, director, and studio executive who serves as the co-boss and co-head of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran. In his executive and creative role, he oversees the development and direction of the revamped DC Universe across film and television.

Gunn's direct directorial work includes the upcoming Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, starring David Corenswet. He personally wrapped principal photography on the blockbuster in August 2026, describing the filming process as a joyful experience. Under his vision, the DC Universe is expanding with connected projects such as Peacemaker, Creature Commandos, and the HBO detective drama Lanterns.

As a studio executive, Gunn maintains direct communication with fans and actors alike. He personally reached out to actor Xolo Maridueña to bring Blue Beetle into Man of Tomorrow following a studio overhaul.
