Don’t believe everything circulating on the timeline. Rumors have been swirling that *Obsession* breakout actress Inde Navarrette walked away from a massive role in Michael Mann’s highly anticipated crime sequel *Heat 2* to jump ship to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Gossip claimed she passed on sharing the screen with Hollywood heavyweights like Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale so she could play Rogue in the upcoming *X-Men* reboot. However, those rumors are completely bogus. According to a report from TheWrap, Navarrette was never actually offered a part in the film. While the actress did sit down for an initial meeting with director Michael Mann, the casting process never progressed past that initial chat. That means there was never an official contract for her to turn down in the first place.
Did Inde Navarrette Turn Down Heat 2 For Marvel?
The internet speculation suggested Navarrette was forced to choose between the two major studio projects due to conflicting production schedules. However, *Heat 2* executive producer Shane Salerno put an end to the rumor mill, stating outright that the narrative about her walking away from the project is simply untrue. Logistically, a scheduling clash wouldn't have automatically ruled her out anyway. Actor Adam Driver, who is also linked to the rebooted *X-Men* project, is reportedly in advanced talks to play the chief antagonist Wardell in *Heat 2*. If other stars are managing to navigate both schedules, Navarrette theoretically could have done the same had a formal offer been extended.
Is Inde Navarrette Still Playing Rogue In X-Men?
Even without a spot in Mann's crime epic, Navarrette’s Hollywood trajectory remains on a sharp incline. She is still attached to star in Marvel Studios’ upcoming *X-Men* film, which has director Jake Schreier at the helm. Stepping into the shoes of the fan-favorite mutant Rogue represents a massive career milestone for the rising star. On top of her superhero debut, Navarrette is riding high on the success of her star-making turn in *Obsession*. Her character Nikki is even expanding into theme park territory, with plans for the character to appear at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights in both Hollywood and Orlando. She may not be pulling off high-stakes heists in *Heat 2*, but her lineup of high-profile projects is doing just fine.
