The Great British Bake Off

The Great British Bake Off is a British reality television baking competition in which amateur bakers perform technical challenges under a marquee tent to impress judges and avoid elimination. Broadcast on Channel 4, the series features contestants striving for high praise, including Paul Hollywood's signature handshake.

Heading into its 17th series in 2026, the show underwent a major judging panel update following the departure of longtime judge Dame Prue Leith. Culinary personality Nigella Lawson joined remaining veteran judge Paul Hollywood at the table, stepping into the tent after a six-year break from prime-time British broadcast television. The series launch event featured Lawson alongside Hollywood and co-hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding.

The 2026 contestant lineup highlights a varied mix of kitchen enthusiasts, including a theatrical drag king performer, a hairdresser, and two university students. Beyond tent duties, team members continue to draw public interest, from host Alison Hammond and former judge Prue Leith appearing on the runway at London Fashion Week to Hollywood's private helicopter flights in rural Kent.
