Sacha Baron Cohen

Sacha Baron Cohen is a comedian, actor, and director known for creating and performing comic alter egos, including the Staines-based prankster Ali G. He stepped behind the camera to make his feature film directorial debut with the mockumentary movie Ali G: Who Iz I?

Baron Cohen revived his iconic nineties character Ali G after more than two decades for the feature project Ali G: Who Iz I?, produced under Amazon MGM Studios. The film's trailer teased the return of the yellow-tracksuit-wearing character, who targets pop culture figures like Ed Sheeran. However, the project sparked backlash among British advocacy groups and activists who argued the caricature relies on outdated stereotypes. Consequently, major U.K. multiplex chain Picturehouse Cinemas announced a boycott, refusing to exhibit the film across its theaters.

In addition to his professional projects, recent coverage has touched upon Baron Cohen's personal life following his divorce from actress Isla Fisher. As he continues his work in film and comedy, public attention remains focused on the controversial return of his classic alter ego to theaters.
