About Rupaul's Drag Race uk
RuPaul's Drag Race UK is a British reality competition television series hosted and executive produced by RuPaul. Debuting in 2019 on BBC Three and the network's digital platform, the popular entertainment series highlights local drag performers and transforms them into global headliners through runway challenges and critiques.
The competitive series features 12 drag queens stepping into the Werk Room each season to contend for the ultimate crown and the title of the UK's Next Drag Superstar. The eighth series represents a notable milestone for the franchise, featuring a generation of contestants who grew up obsessively watching the show before stepping onto the main stage as official competitors.
In September 2026, reports confirmed that the BBC ended its broadcast run with the show following its eighth series as part of a £500 million financial overhaul across the public broadcaster. Production company World of Wonder subsequently took full control of distribution, relocating future seasons to its proprietary streaming network, WOW Presents Plus, and announcing a new All Stars spinoff for 2027.
- Coverage focused heavily on the show's major broadcast transition away from public television due to BBC budget cuts.
- Reports emphasized both the cultural legacy of the BBC Three series in elevating local drag talent and its strategic move toward a direct-to-consumer streaming model.
