Jay Weinberg is a heavy metal drummer and musician best known for serving as the drummer for the masked metal band Slipknot from 2013 until late 2023. He joined the group following the departure of original drummer Joey Jordison. He is also the son of E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg.
During his decade-long tenure with Slipknot, Weinberg was subject to strict contractual terms that legally banned him from taking on side projects or collaborating with outside artists. The enforced creative restriction began in 2013 and prevented him from recording or performing with other musical acts, which he later disclosed left him feeling isolated and creatively constrained.
Following his abrupt dismissal from Slipknot in late 2023, Weinberg turned to professional therapy to process the emotional aftermath of the split. In interviews focused on mental health resources in the music community, he detailed the psychological toll of the separation and credited therapy with helping him rebuild his life.
