East of Eden

East of Eden is an upcoming Netflix limited drama series adapted from John Steinbeck's acclaimed 1952 literary classic. The television project was brought to the streaming service by actor and writer Zoe Kazan, who wrote the adaptation and serves as co-showrunner alongside Jeb Stuart.

The prestige series stars Oscar nominee Florence Pugh in the key central role of Cathy Ames. In addition to taking on the leading role in front of the camera, Pugh also serves as an executive producer behind the scenes. The series delves into the dark fallibilities of human nature, tracking how toxic rivalries and buried secrets destroy a family across generations.

Netflix first announced that the classic story was being reimagined for modern television audiences nearly four full years before setting a launch date. Streaming executives later released preview images and an official teaser trailer featuring Pugh in character. The long-awaited limited series is scheduled to premiere globally on the platform on October 1, 2026.
