Everything to know about Billboard 200
The Billboard 200 is the main all-genre national album chart in the United States, tracking weekly release performance using sales and streaming metrics. Industry tracking data from services like Luminate measures equivalent album units to determine rankings for new releases and catalog titles across the country.
Recent chart performance reflects a strong wave of K-pop releases, marked by Stray Kids securing their ninth chart-topping project with This & That and ENHYPEN reaching No. 1 with THE SIN: BLISS. This trend originated in June 2018 when BTS reached the top spot with Love Yourself: Tear, paving the way for 25 K-pop albums to reach the chart's summit.
The chart also tracks historic sales milestones and catalog surges after notable events. Pop group KATSEYE set a record for all-female groups in the streaming era by moving 170,000 units with WILD, while Dolly Parton's 2003 compilation Ultimate Dolly Parton returned to the top five following her passing in August 2026.
- Billboard 200 coverage centers heavily on major release debuts, streaming performance milestones, and the rising global dominance of K-pop acts.
- Reports also frequently detail historic catalog surges prompted by major cultural moments and artist passings.
