Yabba Dabba Do! Ryan Gosling Producing New Live-Action ‘Flintstones’ Movie

Ryan Gosling is trading his signature Ken energy for pure prehistoric nostalgia. The *Barbie* superstar is officially taking on Bedrock, teaming up with Warner Bros. Pictures to develop a brand-new live-action feature film based on *The Flintstones*. Gosling and his executive partner Jessie Henderson are set to produce the project under their Open Invite banner. While the studio is actively searching for screenwriters to pen the script, early whispers suggest this isn't just another standard retell of the caveman family. Reports indicate that the upcoming reboot will shift focus directly onto Bamm-Bamm Rubble, the pint-sized, super-strong toddler raised by Barney and Betty Rubble.

While fans are already wondering if Gosling might play a grown-up version of Bamm-Bamm or step into Fred Flintstone's iconic orange tunic, no casting news has been announced yet. At present, Gosling and Henderson are strictly attached as producers. Regardless of who lands in front of the camera, the project represents a massive revival for one of pop culture's most legendary animated properties. The original Hanna-Barbera television series made its television debut on ABC in 1960, earning a permanent spot in pop culture history as the first animated show to air during primetime hours. Set in the modern Stone Age town of Bedrock, the classic cartoon centered on Fred and Wilma Flintstone, their daughter Pebbles, neighbors Barney and Betty Rubble, and their beloved pet dinosaur Dino.

Universal Pictures scored a massive box office smash with 1994's *The Flintstones*, which saw John Goodman step into the role of Fred alongside Rick Moranis as Barney and Elizabeth Perkins as Wilma. A prequel followed in 2000, titled *The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas*, starring Mark Addy, Stephen Baldwin, and Kristen Johnston. Warner Bros. is clearly betting big on Gosling's producing instincts to reignite the franchise. In addition to their new prehistoric project, Gosling and Henderson are also producing director Rachel Morrison’s upcoming romantic drama *Love of Your Life*, continuing a very busy slate for their production house.
