Scrubs Revival Shakes Up Cast For Season 2: Who's In And Who's Out?

Sacred Heart Hospital is gearing up for another shift, but the shift roster is looking a little different this time around. ABC is moving forward with a second season of its revived *Scrubs* series, sending fans into a spin over which legacy doctors are returning to the call sheet and who might be hanging up their stethoscope for good. The original hit workplace comedy dominated television from 2001 through 2010, charting the chaotic personal and professional lives of medical staff in a high-pressure teaching hospital. The iconic main ensemble featured Zach Braff as J.D., Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid, Donald Faison as Turk, John C. McGinley as Dr. Cox, Judy Reyes as Carla Espinosa, Neil Flynn as the mysterious Janitor, and Ken Jenkins as Dr. Bob Kelso.

Which original actors are returning for the Scrubs reboot Navigating cast departures is nothing new for the long-running sitcom franchise. Back in season eight, Braff's character famously departed the main hospital setting while his costars remained behind. The show then attempted a dramatic overhaul for its ninth season, subtitled *Med School*, which relocated the story to an academic setting and introduced a brand-new roster of medical trainees. During that ninth season, actors Kerry Bishé, Eliza Coupe, Dave Franco, and Michael Mosley stepped into the spotlight, with Bishé taking over narration duties from Braff. Only Braff, Faison, and McGinley stayed on as full-time regulars, while Chalke and others popped in for brief guest stints. Fans will recall that J.D. and Elliot reunited during a time jump to get married and welcome a child together before that original era finally wrapped.

Will Zach Braff and Donald Faison stay on Scrubs season 2 When ABC officially greenlit the grand comeback in July 2025, nostalgia hit an all-time high. However, revivals frequently face scheduling conflicts and creative shifts, leaving room for key cast members to exit between seasons. As production moves ahead on the second installment of this revived chapter, viewers are keeping a close eye on contract announcements. While precise roster details for the next batch of episodes remain under wraps, the upcoming season aims to balance nostalgic cameos with fresh narrative arcs. Whether the classic core group fully reunites or passes the torch once again, television's favorite medical crew is officially back in business.
