Nicole Kidman has pretty much done it all in Hollywood. From winning Oscars to headlining massive prestige television hits, the beloved superstar remains one of the most sought-after actors in the industry. But even an absolute icon cannot get every single role on her wishlist. As it turns out, Kidman was quietly hoping for a ticket to Arrakis, but director Denis Villeneuve never gave her the call to join his blockbusting *Dune* franchise. The actress recently opened up about her deep admiration for the filmmaker's cinematic universe, which adapts Frank Herbert’s legendary sci-fi space opera. Despite her high-profile resume and legendary status, Kidman admitted that Villeneuve simply does not reach out to cast her in his projects. That lack of an invitation has not dampened her fandom, however, as she confessed to being totally enamored with the films anyway.
Why is Nicole Kidman not in Denis Villeneuve's Dune?
While many actors might feel slighted by being overlooked for one of the biggest film series of the decade, Kidman is taking it entirely in stride. The star explained that Villeneuve "never asks" her to star in his work. Yet, instead of harboring any bad blood over missing out on the epic sci-fi universe, she remains completely hooked on the director's output. In fact, Kidman admitted she is so blown away by the massive scope of the project that she is perfectly content staying in the audience. She noted that she would ultimately "just want to watch" the movies as a fan rather than stress about performing in the complex space epic.

Will Nicole Kidman ever work with Denis Villeneuve?
Villeneuve’s take on *Dune* has assembled one of the most stacked ensembles in modern cinema history. From rising young icons to veteran Hollywood royalty, the cast list is packed to the brim. Still, film fans can only imagine what kind of powerful galactic figure Kidman could have brought to life on the desert planet. For now, Kidman continues to keep her calendar packed with plenty of other high-profile projects across TV and film. But her public confession leaves the door wide open for the future. If Villeneuve ever decides he needs another powerhouse performer for an upcoming project or a completely new sci-fi film altogether, he knows exactly who is waiting by the phone and obsessing over his work.
