Koe Wetzel Teams Up With Ella Langley for Disco-Tinged 'Jaded' Track

Koe Wetzel is stepping well outside his traditional sound for a bold new musical experiment, and he is fully owning the unexpected shift. The country-rock powerhouse has joined forces with rising artist Ella Langley on a catchy collaboration titled "Jaded," a track that trades heavy southern riffs for slick, danceable pop rhythms. Released through Yellabush, Columbia, and RECORDS Nashville, the single made its debut alongside striking visual packaging centered on a shimmering green mirror ball. The bright emerald shade offered a visual play on the song's gemstone title, but it also signaled a sharp turn toward disco-adjacent energy. Members of Wetzel's creative team even cited synth legends Depeche Mode and disco pioneers The Bee Gees — specifically pointing to their iconic hit "Stayin' Alive" — as key sonic reference points during the creative process.

Wetzel admitted that crafting a radio-ready pop anthem was not something he actively set out to do, but he chose not to resist the momentum once the idea clicked. The singer described the duet as an absolute outlier in his catalog, acknowledging that it represents the most pop-infused song he will likely ever record in his life. Instead of forcing the production into a more familiar country framework, he embraced the polished pop flavor. The track was born during a Jan. 14 songwriting session at the Nashville home studio of producer Jordan Schmidt, known for hits like "Kid Myself" and "Who Told You That." Wetzel and Langley were trying to jumpstart a high-energy track using several basic ideas, but they were not getting anywhere with their initial concepts.

The breakthrough came courtesy of the fourth songwriter in the room, fellow country star ERNEST. While the group struggled to find a direction, ERNEST began repeatedly humming a melodic line featuring the phrase, "How'd you get so jaded?" The hook immediately stopped Wetzel in his tracks. Surprised by the melody, he asked the room what they were working on and quickly realized they were sitting on the bare bones of a smash. Wetzel urged the group to drop everything else and finish writing the song right then and there, ultimately creating one of his most unique releases to date.
