Ghost Leader Tobias Forge Breaks Silence on Band's Exhausting Hiatus

Ghost frontman Tobias Forge is pulling back the curtain on why the theatrical rock group had to press pause. After wrapping up a grueling 70-date concert run, the mastermind behind the Swedish heavy metal act admitted he was simply running on empty. Speaking with *Kerrang!*, Forge reflected on the immense physical and mental toll of staying on the road for so long. The band had spent months touring behind their 2025 release *Skeletá*, but by the time the final curtain fell back in February, the pressure of maintaining that momentum had taken its toll.

Forge explained that carrying the expectations of massive crowds and an entire production team becomes overwhelming when there isn't a fresh creative target in sight. While he usually finds that pressure motivating during an active project, trying to carry that weight without a distinct future vision became too draining. He compared finishing the massive trek to coming off a grand wedding celebration. According to the singer, nobody turns around and plans another massive event immediately after finishing one. He admitted to feeling totally exhausted once the 70-show commitment concluded.

Despite the severe burnout, Forge expressed deep pride in everything the band has built so far. He noted that if the current discography served as a permanent final statement, he would feel entirely content with the group's body of work and performance quality. Forge also addressed the band's famously elaborate story world, suggesting that if listeners depend entirely on narrative lore to enjoy the group, that dynamic will likely wrap up in the near future. For now, the frontman is content stepping away from the pressure of the stage to recharge before deciding what comes next.
