Nostalgia is hitting the home improvement space in a massive way. HGTV is bringing together some of the biggest television stars of the 1990s for its upcoming competitive renovation series *Totally '90s House*, set to premiere on August 26. Hosted by *Family Matters* legend Jaleel White, the series pits fan-favorite actors against one another to see who can give dated residences the ultimate modern makeover. The show features two stacked squads of television royalty. One group features *Beverly Hills, 90210* star Brian Austin Green, *7th Heaven* actress Beverley Mitchell, and *Full House* favorite Jodie Sweetin. They face off against *Sabrina the Teenage Witch* headliner Melissa Joan Hart, *Boy Meets World* alum Matthew Lawrence, and *The Cosby Show* veteran Keshia Knight Pulliam. Renovation experts Carter Oosterhouse and Sabrina Soto are also on hand as mentors to keep the crews on track. ## Who left HGTV Totally 90s House early Despite the fun throwback premise, things take an unexpected turn early in the competition. A first-look trailer reveals host Jaleel White dropping a bombshell about an upcoming disruption, teasing that a massive turn of events will leave one squad permanently altered. That shocker arrives courtesy of Melissa Joan Hart. In the preview footage, the actress delivers surprising news to her teammates, explaining that she is forced to temporarily step away from the project and leave the renovation efforts behind. ## Who replaced Melissa Joan Hart on HGTV To keep the competition going, the show called in some backup with deep ties to the crew. Enter Joey Lawrence — brother to teammate Matthew Lawrence and former co-star to Melissa Joan Hart on the hit comedy *Melissa & Joey*. Joey steps into the fray to fill the vacant spot, adding another layer of sitcom nostalgia to the mix. Throughout the season, both teams travel across the United States searching for residential properties stuck in the decade of flip phones and grunge music. Their goal is to completely overhaul the dated interior spaces with contemporary designs while retaining the classic retro flair that made the homes special in the first place.
