The Americans

The Americans is an acclaimed FX television drama series centered on undercover KGB operatives posing as a married couple in the United States. Running for six seasons, the show starred Welsh actor Matthew Rhys and actress Keri Russell as secret Soviet agents executing espionage missions while maintaining their covert domestic lives.

Throughout the show's six-season run, the onscreen partnership between Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell evolved into a real-life romance off camera. The co-stars maintained complete discretion about their budding relationship, keeping their off-screen bond private from fans, media, and observers under the guise of being dedicated colleagues.

The acclaimed spy drama earned major industry accolades, including a 2018 Primetime Emmy Award for Matthew Rhys for his performance as undercover agent Philip Jennings. Following the series finale, the lead actors moved on to separate projects, though Rhys has publicly expressed interest in trading lines with Russell again in future television crossovers.
