About System of a Down
System of a Down is a heavy metal quartet and nu-metal band fronted by lead singer Serj Tankian. Recognized as major figures in hard rock and metal, the group built a legendary career on bold, aggressive energy and a distinct, chaotic musical style that frequently carries heavy political messages.
The group gained widespread acclaim for their defining early 2000s record Toxicity. To celebrate the milestone legacy of the album, the band unveiled a major 25th anniversary reissue package containing fresh physical releases on vinyl pressings and standard CDs, alongside a broad capsule collection of themed merchandise including skate decks and exclusive gear.
Beyond physical album reissues, System of a Down maintains a high-profile live presence through joint reunion performances and major co-headlining events, including a scheduled concert with Faith No More on January 15, 2027, at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Frontman Serj Tankian also performs on collaborative projects outside the band.
- Recent coverage emphasizes System of a Down's lasting influence in heavy music through landmark album anniversaries, major South American reunion dates, and high-profile individual vocal features.
