Stephen King is an author recognized for his extensive contributions to horror fiction and his influential literary catalog. His debut novel, Carrie, published in 1974, established his reputation as a master of modern horror. Over the decades, his written works have frequently been adapted into major film and television productions.
King is known for maintaining very selective standards when evaluating Hollywood translations of his books. He recently offered his approval for filmmaker Mike Flanagan's eight-part Prime Video miniseries adaptation of Carrie, publicly hailing the new television project starring Summer H. Howell as brilliant ahead of its release.
Beyond fresh adaptations of his early work, King's fictional stories continue to expand into television franchises such as HBO's prequel series It: Welcome to Derry. Developed by Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the prequel expands on the world of King's novel It, which previously inspired a 1990 television miniseries starring Tim Curry and modern cinematic blockbusters starring Bill Skarsgård.
