Lioness

Lioness is a television espionage drama and spy thriller created by Taylor Sheridan for Paramount+. The television series follows a shadowy, elite CIA task force that deploys female military service members undercover to gain the trust of key targets, specifically terrorists' wives and daughters, in an effort to prevent global attacks.

The show's ensemble cast includes Zoe Saldaña, who stars as task force leader Joe, alongside Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly, Dave Annable, and James Jordan. During its third season, the series stirred debate among viewers over its jumpy narrative timeline. Saldaña personally defended the show's complex storytelling structure after commentators criticized the fragmented, out-of-order plot construction.

In addition to viewer discussions about its storytelling, the drama faced pushback from military veterans. Real-life operatives who served in the U.S. Marine Corps' actual Team Lioness task force during the 2003 Iraq War publicly criticized the production, arguing that the series relies on Hollywood fiction that strays from their real military mission and history.
