Kermit The Frog

Kermit the Frog is an iconic Muppet character and television host originally created by Jim Henson. The character is physically operated and voiced by master puppeteer and voice performer Matt Vogel, who brings the famous green amphibian to life in Disney+ and ABC television productions.

Following a ten-year hiatus from headlining a proper television episode, Kermit returned to the spotlight when Disney reopened the iconic Muppet Theatre for a major new variety special. Bringing the character and his fellow felt performers back to the stage required extensive preparation, physical craftsmanship, and backstage coordination by a dedicated crew of human puppeteers who worked to recreate classic comedic beats, set pieces, and musical numbers.

The resulting special, titled The Muppet Show, became one of the most talked-about streaming programs for Disney+ and achieved significant success during awards season. The special swept up four Emmy trophies at the opening weekend of the 2026 ceremonies, representing over 25 percent of the company's total wins. Vogel also earned a character voice-over performance Emmy nomination for his work voicing and operating Kermit.
