Insidious

Insidious is a supernatural horror film franchise centered on paranormal hauntings, demonic entities, and a purgatorial nightmare realm known as the Further. The franchise launched with the initial feature film in 2010 and continued with Insidious: Chapter 2 in 2013 and Insidious: Chapter 3 in 2015, establishing a long-running blockbuster saga within the supernatural horror genre.

Early entries in the series feature recurring fan-favorite characters such as the gifted medium Elise Rainier, portrayed by actress Lin Shaye. Coverage of the overall franchise details how the classic original trilogy is currently available for streaming on Peacock, allowing horror fans to catch up on the foundational stories of ghost realm hauntings and demonic manifestations.

The franchise continues to expand with its sixth theatrical chapter, Insidious: Out of the Further, scheduled for cinema release on August 21, 2026. Written and directed by filmmaker Jacob Chase, this installment shifts away from traditional haunted family dynamics to follow a fresh protagonist named Gemma, played by Amelia Eve, a young mother who can physically enter the Further while confronting severe dental anxiety and visceral body horror.
