Ice Princess

Ice Princess is a 2005 Disney feature film focused on figure skating. The teen drama brought together young performers early in their careers, starring Michelle Trachtenberg as Casey Carlyle, an academically gifted teenager who pursues her figure-skating dreams.

The movie also featured Hayden Panettiere as a talented young skater alongside Kim Cattrall, who portrayed a dedicated ice skating coach. Over the years following its theatrical release, the figure-skating film built a dedicated audience and became a memorable 2000s Disney favorite for a generation of viewers.

The film re-entered pop culture discussions in mid-2026 following the tragic deaths of both leading stars within two years of each other. Trachtenberg was found dead in her New York City apartment in February 2025, while Panettiere died in August 2026 from an apparent overdose. The devastating losses prompted co-stars, including Cattrall, and industry peers to honor the performers and share nostalgic reflections on their shared work in the 2005 movie.
