About Crew Girl
Crew Girl is a Netflix young adult high school drama series created and developed by Vivian Lin. The show debuted its entire first season on September 10, 2026, centering on the high-stakes world of competitive prep school rowing.
The narrative revolves around 16-year-old Teagan Tao, portrayed by Miku Martineau, an ambitious athlete forced to relocate to the US East Coast after her father, a wealthy hotel mogul played by Byron Lawson, steals millions from clients and flees. Discovering that her new school, Easton Prep, lacks a girls' rowing program, Teagan earns a spot as the coxswain for the unruly boys' varsity rowing crew.
The ensemble cast includes Sam Braun, Kyle Clark, Thomas Cadrot, Jessica Paré, and Connor Paton. To prepare for their roles, actors underwent an intense physical rowing boot camp. Despite receiving comparisons to teen shows like Gossip Girl and Friday Night Lights, the series faced negative early reviews from critics upon its release.
- Media coverage around Crew Girl focused heavily on the cast's rigorous physical rowing training and the blend of high school sports drama with prep school scandal.
- Initial reporting highlighted major comparisons to iconic teen television shows alongside critical reactions to its premiere and discussions of its soundtrack.
