Kevin Parker is officially putting his pen away while traveling on the road. The creative mastermind behind Tame Impala took to Instagram Stories to break the news to his fanbase, confirming that he is completely shutting down all impromptu autograph requests, selfie sessions, and casual meet-and-greets outside hotels, airports, and concert grounds going forward. The Australian hitmaker is currently in the middle of his North American arena tour. While rock stars often try to carve out a few brief moments for waiting supporters near their hotel entrances or bus stops, Parker explained that the environment surrounding his arrivals and departures has become far too chaotic thanks to persistent signature collectors.

According to the singer, the primary reason behind his sudden decision involves aggressive autograph hounds pushing boundaries and resorting to manipulative tactics. Parker specifically called out collectors who have started bringing young children into the mix to front for them and obtain signed merchandise, calling the strategy completely unacceptable. In his message to followers, Parker admitted that while he previously tolerated signature requests despite not being particularly thrilled about the culture, watching adults exploit young kids to flip items on the secondary market was a major dealbreaker. The troubling practice ultimately convinced him that it was time to end public signing altogether.

The shutdown doesn't stop at airports and hotel lobbies. Parker clarified that he won't be coming out after performances to meet crowds gathered in parking lots either, pointing to pressing security concerns around tour stops that make after-show gatherings unsafe for everyone involved. Concluding his message, Parker asked genuine supporters not to take it personally if he politely turns down photo or signature requests if spotted out and about. Heading into his next concert date in Portland, the performer encouraged concertgoers to focus on enjoying the actual live show and making sure they get home safely when the music ends.
