The trailer pulls no punches when laying out the massive geopolitical crisis ahead. At the core of the conflict is a grounded Russian submarine that was allegedly carrying a catastrophic piece of military technology. Accusations start flying fast when it emerges that the apocalyptic device was secretly snatched, throwing the global balance of power into pure turmoil. Naturally, the fallout creates a bitter battleground within the executive branch itself. Kate finds herself directly locking horns with President Grace Penn, played with terrifying authority by Emmy and Oscar winner Alison Janney. Meanwhile, Kate’s equally complicated diplomat husband Hal, played by Rufus Sewell, remains right in the middle of the crossfire as the couple tries to figure out who is really pulling the strings.
