Rosie O’Donnell Gets Surprised by Idol Barbra Streisand After Late-Night Hosting Gig

Rosie O’Donnell just received the ultimate stamp of approval following her high-profile turn in the late-night spotlight. After wrapping up her guest-hosting stint on ABC's *Jimmy Kimmel Live!*, the veteran comedian was treated to an unexpected personal outreach from her lifelong icon, Barbra Streisand. The music and screen legend reached out directly to celebrate O’Donnell's return to network television. Thrilled by the personal gesture, O’Donnell quickly took to her social media accounts on Thursday to show off a screenshot of the heartwarming exchange with her millions of followers.

The brief note from Streisand offered warm words of encouragement to the veteran broadcast personality. The EGOT winner shared how wonderful it felt to see O'Donnell back in front of camera crews and television audiences, offering a cozy welcome back to the medium before signing off with a string of kisses. O’Donnell was clearly over the moon about the direct message, making no secret of her delight in her Instagram caption. She praised Streisand as an absolute class act, telling her audience that receiving such thoughtful praise from her idol was the most magical way possible to conclude her week-long run behind the *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* desk.

BUZZBEAT

For fans who have followed O'Donnell's career over the decades, the sweet interaction carries extra weight. Throughout her rise to fame and her hugely successful daytime run on *The Rosie O'Donnell Show* during the late 1990s and early 2000s, O’Donnell constantly voiced her intense fandom for Streisand, often dreaming about meeting the *Yentl* director on air. Over the years, the two entertainment figures have shared several memorable public moments, but receiving a private note of praise after stepping back into the late-night host chair marks a special chapter in their ongoing bond. O'Donnell's week filling in during Jimmy Kimmel's summer break gave audiences a fresh reminder of her seasoned broadcasting chops. However, for O'Donnell herself, having one of showbiz's biggest legends cheering her on from home clearly took the entire hosting experience to a whole new level.
