Ahead of the 2026 Mercury Prize ceremony, organisers have unveiled the official Mercury Prize Fringe schedule—a massive week featuring more than 30 separate events hosted at venues across the North East location. The main awards presentation lands at Newcastle's Utilita Arena on October 22. The event makes its way to the region after local singer-songwriter Sam Fender scored the coveted trophy last year with his critically praised third studio album, *People Watching*. Before the main trophy is handed out on stage, Newcastle will host a series of live gigs, panel discussions, and cinema screenings. One of the week's standout highlights is a dedicated screening of Sam Fender’s *Live At London Stadium* concert film on October 17 at the Tyneside Cinema. The film showing will be paired with an expert panel discussion exploring Fender’s creative evolution, his cultural influence, and the behind-the-scenes work involved in crafting the concert movie. That same day offers plenty more for music lovers exploring the city.
