A South Florida police officer is facing serious legal trouble after a domestic dispute regarding her partner's career path allegedly turned violent. North Bay Village police officer Marcia Sangronis, 38, was taken into custody on Tuesday following an explosive breakup at her home. Court filings reveal she has been charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. The incident unfolded after Sangronis and her boyfriend of two years spent the night together at her residence. According to official reports, an intense disagreement broke out when the officer brought up her partner's professional aspirations. She allegedly voiced frustration over what she perceived as a lack of drive to enter the law enforcement field. As the argument grew increasingly tense, the man announced that he wanted to call off their two-year relationship and leave the residence. However, court filings state that Sangronis refused to let him exit quietly. She allegedly stood in front of the door, actively blocking his path to prevent him from walking out.
What Caused The Alleged Domestic Dispute?
What started as a debate over career ambitions quickly spiraled into a physical struggle inside the home, court filings indicate. Investigators report that the situation turned violent as the officer repeatedly refused to permit her boyfriend to step outside. During the heated confrontation, Sangronis allegedly attacked her partner. Authorities report that the officer bit and scratched him as he attempted to break away from her hold. The victim later informed officers that physical altercations had become an ongoing issue in their relationship whenever the subject of his employment drive arose.
How Was Marcia Sangronis Arrested?
The altercation came to an abrupt end on the morning of October 6. Shortly before 10 a.m., the victim managed to slip out of the house and run into the neighborhood. Seeking urgent assistance, he spotted two patrolling Hialeah Police Department officers and successfully flagged down their vehicle. The man detailed the physical abuse to the patrol officers, providing a full account of the violent attack that had just taken place inside the residence. Following an initial investigation by responding Hialeah police officers, Sangronis was formally taken into custody and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center to face felony charges.
